There are many different types of Bowen therapy, stemming from the work of the late great Thomas Bowen.
All have different approaches due to the background and interpretation of the therapist who developed it, but all have the famous 'bowen flick' move in common.
I am qualified in Myopractic Bowen therapy, which was developed by Neil Skillbeck (a qualified chiropractor) who worked directly with Thomas Bowen. Neil does not practice chiropractic any longer as he believes and stands by his myopractic muscle work.
This form of Bowen therapy is incredible. Starting with a postural assessment, I can analyse precisely which muscles are affecting the mechanics of the body.
Treating those specific muscles will bring about change while the client is on the table and with correct stretching and strengthening exercises as homework, the client can bring about homeostasis or balance.
It amazes me on the amount of people who have been incorrectly informed and diagnosed with postural indifference such as a short leg and told that it's genetic or even wrongly prescribed orthotics.
I fully recommend Myopractic Bowen therapy as a primary treatment for all muscular and nerve aches, pains and dysfunction. It is the first and usually the only treatment I go to for my own personal issues.
