Reviews for Ferntree Gully Platers

Beware !!!!, I dropped my front 1961 Cadillac bumper off at Ferntree Gully Platers to be rechromed at a comparable price and it looked great when i received it. My car being a garage Queen was only brought out for club runs and was only caught out on two rainy days. After a year I was a bit concerned about a small brownish star on the chrome. Two months later I opened up the garage to give her a polish for another run and I was shocked to see the whole bumper bar that I had spent thousands on to be rechromed was now totally blistered - very much worse than before I had dropped it off at Ferntree Gully Platers less than two years earlier. I phoned and brought the car to the platers in January and complained how I was guaranteed of a quality job by them and if there were any problems just come in to see them. They admitted that one of their employee's must have plated straight over the old chrome - thereby skipping a process. I removed and returned the bumper bar to Ferntree Gully Platers a few days later and I was told it could take a few weeks to be rechromed because of a back log. After the few weeks in January 2015, I phoned to enquire if the job was ready and the excuses started. I rang every week in February, more excuses March, more excuses April, more excuses May, more excuses June, more excuses July - it's been seven months with my car off the road and they still won't finish my bumper bar.

Agree totally with you. Unfortunately my experience is worse. Now up to 18 months. After 12 months I got my parts back but job not up to scratch on a few pieces. they said they would fix. now its been another 6 months on those parts. Feel like walking in with a baseball bat and just start swinging.
