When insulation is to be installed, topped up or reinstalled re-installed in an existing home, this is known as a “retrofit” installation. Our experienced retrofit insulation installers operate in tough conditions, due to the cramped, dusty and often hot nature of the enclosed roof space environment. Surrounded by angled timbers, electrical wiring and ventilation ducting, our professional insulation installers navigate their way around the roof space, cutting and fitting the insulation batts snuggly between the joists.
The performance of thermal insulation is measured in R-Value, with the “R” standing for Resistance to heat transfer. In other words, it measures how effective the insulation is at reducing heat transfer from outside and into your home – (and the other way around). New buildings are required to meet certain minimum energy efficiency standards, and one of these factors is the R-Value of the insulation in the floor and wall cavities, but most of all in the ceiling. Generally, the thicker the insulation, the higher the R-Value performance, provided the insulation is installed correctly.
